WILLIAM ALBURGER
I am an eco-artist and conservationist. My wood art is sculpted from naturally weathered boards that I rescue and reclaim from fallen trees and old barns. I relentlessly create highly original, one of a kind pieces, weaving my art education with self-taught practices. I work outdoors all year and it is respect for the processes and mysteries of Nature that informs my art. My organic designs come from the distorted boards themselves and I enjoy highlighting Nature's own signature on each piece. After cleaning and drying the repurposed wood, I wield diverse tools from saw mill machinery to power tools, hand tools and even a dental pick. Before I apply my personalized stains and paints, created from repurposed store mistints, I use 12 specialty sanders to expose splinter-free, deep texture. I finish with a custom, multi-step process. Showcasing the beauty of age and the glory of endurance, my pieces result in texture-rich works of art that speak to the soul.
